EURONEWS APPOINTS DARREN MCCAFFREY AS POLITICAL EDITOR
Lyon, France - 13 June 2018 - We are very excited to announce the appointment of Darren McCaffrey as our new Political Editor, based in Brussels. Darren is one of the most accomplished and exciting journalists of his generation, with a reputation for breaking big stories and conducting fearless live interviews.
Darren has spent the last nine years at Sky News, most recently as Ireland Correspondent, but made his name as a Political Correspondent based at Westminster. During his time there he played a key role in Sky's coverage of the most tumultuous political times - the coalition, general elections, the Brexit referendum, resignations, leadership elections and much more. He was central to these stories, often on air for hours at a time, breaking new lines and providing insightful analysis as these stories developed.
Post referendum, Darren then followed the story to Brussels in the lead up to article 50 being triggered. He covered EU Council summits and reported from the European Parliament in Strasbourg. He has also reported from capitals across Europe in the lead up to the referendum and since the result.
Darren will play a leading role in our Brussels coverage, reporting on the biggest stories from across Europe, providing depth and insight as we move towards Brexit and the 2019 European elections - helping to ensure that we stay true to our values of All Voices and All Views. He will work closely with our European reporting team: Bryan Carter and Meabh McMahon in Brussels, Anelise Borges in Paris, Vincent McAviney in London, Jessica Saltz in Berlin, and Claudio Lavanga in Rome. He will also be a regular presence on our new nightly political strand Raw Politics when it launches in the Autumn.
Darren will take up his new role in September 2018.
